Trusted, Highly Trained and Professional Physiotherapists
Our Chartered Physiotherapists are all experienced with a minimum of three years clinical practice and most have more than 10 years’ experience. Our physiotherapists regularly attend training courses to keep up with new knowledge and skills emerging in the world of physiotherapy, rehabilitation and sports science.
All our physios have all been through rigorous degree-level training for three years before becoming state registered and working alongside medical teams in the NHS and in private practice. You are in safe hands when you come to Oakwood Physiotherapy Clinic for treatment.
Your First Physiotherapy Appointment
At your first visit your physiotherapist will take a history of your condition and your general health. We check what medications you take, and any previous injuries or illnesses. Your regular sports activities, work and hobbies will be discussed so we can plan treatment aimed to reach your goals.
The physio will then carefully assess you, using skilled clinic tests to check the cause of your problem – whether it is a ligament, muscle, joint or other problem.
In addition to treating your issues, our trained physios will give advice, including exercises and lifestyle tips, to keep you healthy and prevent further problems. This may include simple changes to your sitting posture or computer setup to prevent neck and back pain.
We take a holistic approach at our Oakwood Physio Clinic, whereby we may analyse the whole body in order to treat the problem effectively.
Physiotherapy Treatment at Oakwood Physio Clinic
Treatment goals are decided on between the physiotherapist and the patient, and the physiotherapist will estimate the number of treatments required to reach these goals. Patients usually have between 3 and 6 treatments to feel better.
We understand how important getting back to your activities, work and family is to you. In fact, many patients have been surprised and delighted that we have returned them to a sport or hobby which they had thought they would never be able to return to.
Within the team there are physios with special interests and training, and we may recommend a particular physiotherapist with the greatest expertise for your problem.
Acupuncture with Physiotherapy at Oakwood
Some of our Oakwood physiotherapists are also qualified to use acupuncture as part of their physio treatments. This is sometimes used to complement physiotherapy treatments to relieve pain and inflammation.
For patients who choose to have acupuncture included within their treatment, there is no extra cost.
Acupuncture practiced by our physiotherapists is a very gentle form, and patients are usually delighted by how effective it can be. Patients often remark how they barely feel the acupuncture needles during treatment.

"The physiotherapists treatment and professional advice has helped enable me to maintain an active life which prior to treatment I felt might not be possible."
"I came to see the physio after three months of neck pain. I was taking a lot of pain relief and feeling really fed up. After just two treatments which included acupuncture I was off tablets altogether and painfree thanks to her skill and advice. Oakwood Physio Clinic comes highly recommended."
"The physio was amazing! Her calm and soothing personality was as effective as her physiotherapy treatment, which cured my acute severe neck pain."
"My physio has managed to relieve the pain of my Ankylosing Spondilitis when the medication fails. Very professional and an excellent bedside manner. Thank you."
" I used to be very round shouldered because of a scoliosis but after a course of treatment with her my posture has dramatically improved to a normal posture position and that upright feeling is fantastic after decades of being bent over. My knees wouldn't bend much, I couldn't kneel and my hips were hurting me. After a few sessions with her I was more mobile than I'd been for two or three years and getting rid of the walking stick was the best thing since sliced bread. I started to do things around the house I'd wanted to do for ages."
"My back health is better now than previous to my injury, I have a better knowledge of my back and how to maintain a healthy spine."
